The #SupportCy network is once again helping the Ambulance Service and the State Health Services organisation (Okypy) in their fight against Covid-19 through the donation of four vehicles to help the service cope with the increased number of calls they receive.

The vehicles have been provided by Unicars, a #SupportCy member, with monetary backing from the Bank of Cyprus, and have been GPS-equipped by Frotcom, another member of the network. The coordination of this initiative was handled by Reaction.

Supervisor at the Ambulance Service Riana Constantinou stressed how important #SupportCy has been both for the service as well as Okypy. “Through this action, society shows the true worth of helping the services at the front line and truly deserve the public’s support,” Constantinou said.

Corporate Social Responsibility manager at the Bank of Cyprus Elli Ioannidou said the #SupportCy network reacted immediately and proved that through collective action and cooperation, businesses and organisations can contribute to the handling of both small and large scale problems.

Unicars CEO Christianna Diogenous said: “At Unicars, we continue to apply the corporate social responsibility action plan which we devised at the beginning of the year and which has since been bolstered following the coronavirus outbreak. After a relevant request from the Ambulance Service, we reacted immediately to reinforce their fleet with four Skoda Fabias, which will aim to help them in the rapid and effective reaction to any coronavirus-related incidents. We remain faithful to the values and principles which have defined us all these years and we are committed to continue supporting Cypriot society, especially when it needs us the most.”

Frotcom Chief Operations Officer Constantinos Christodoulides stated that Frotcom Cyprus, as the leading Telematics company is proud to be able to contribute towards the fight against the coronavirus by facilitating a speedier response time.

“We know of the positive influence that both the #SupportCy network and the Reaction organisation have on society. We consider it our duty to contribute effectively to the restriction of the coronavirus outbreak. The GPS equipment provided by Frotcom will help the Ambulance Service in its ability to trace routes,” Christodoulides said.
