The 10th Cyprus-Russia Gala

A press conference to announce the 10th Cyprus-Russia Gala, one of the top cultural events of the last years, was held at Hilton Hotel on Tuesday 14th of June. The Cyprus-Russia Gala serves as a celebration of the long and lasting friendship between Cyprus and Russia which is based on common trust and mutual patronage between the two states. Apart from its cultural importance, the event takes place in aid of the Radiomarathon Foundation.

All artists that will participate in the 10th Cyprus- Russia Gala were introduced to the media representatives present. The amazing artists from the two countries, Cyprus and Russia will unite their voices and talents in a unique performance to contribute to the Cyprus-Russia Gala importance and what the event represents: The belief that “everything falls into place” when there is a strong friendship among states, a strong friendship among men.

This year’s artists are:

• Dmitry Masleev, the triumphant winner of XV International Tchaikovsky Competition (2015). Dmitry Masleev took the First Prize and the international spotlight with the rare unanimous support from the audience, the jury, and the media.
• The Berezka Ensemble, whose dances are often based on folk melodies. With a rich and unique repertoire, the ensemble reproduces poetic choreographic images of everyday life and rituals of olden times in Russia.
• A guitar virtuoso, who composes and is the lead member of a rock ensemble group, that engages audiences with a variety of genres, from neo-flamenco to rock to folk music.

The Cypriot artists are:

• The highly acclaimed soprano Zoe Nicolaidou, winner of the international competition at Schlossoper Haldensten 2007, where she sang the role of Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro).
• Members of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra plays an important role in the cultural life of Cyprus, presenting symphonic performances for audiences of all ages, educating and cultivating new audiences for classical music.
• Mihalis Hatzigiannis. The most successful Greek Artist of the last decade (2000-2011), winner of numerous musical accolades including Best Pop Album, Best Artistic Song, Best Song of the Year and Album of the Year at the Arion Awards 2007 and Best Male Composer of the Year at the Status Awards 2007 amongst many others.

For another year, this celebrating event could not be held if it wasn’t for the support of the Gala’s major sponsor, Interros Group. A contribution that has become a tradition, as the organization has been a major ally to this event though the years 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Interros is an active company in cultural, spiritual and humanitarian projects abroad and well established as a cultural and charitable sponsor in Cyprus.

The Cyprus-Russia Gala is organised and presented by Ensemble Productions Ltd, at the high patronage of the First Lady of the Cyprus Republic Mrs. Andri Anastasiades. This year the Gala will take place on the 10th of September 2016, at the Presidential Palace.
