Bank of Cyprus (BoC), a leader in digital innovation, is making it even easier for its customers to make hassle-free transactions, thanks to the new QR code-based QuickPay service.

Having listened to their needs, BoC is now giving customers another important option for their transactions, so they can easily and simply pay or be paid, using only their mobile phone.

By following the simple steps below, Bank customers will now be able to send and receive money without exchanging any further information, via the QuickPay QR Code offered through the BoC Mobile App.

Steps for QuickPay QR Code payments

Entering the QuickPay function at the bottom of their mobile screen, the user should select “QR Code”. Once this appears, a payor can scan the Code to send them money.

If the payor is already logged into their own BoC Mobile app, they can scan the QR Code, after which they are taken to the QuickPay screen, where a pop-up appears with the payee’s name. If the payor is not logged into their app, scanning the Code takes them to the app login screen, after which the pop-up with the payee’s name appears in order to complete payment.

Ideal for the self-employed

The new service, while not intended for corporate accounts is, however, very practical for the self-employed, as they can serve customers and pay/receive payment via QuickPay’s QR code, simply with their smartphone. Meanwhile, regardless of the scope of their sales, in the future, by displaying their QR code e.g. in a prominent place on their premises, they will be able to be paid directly by their customers, as, with a simple scan of the QR code, remuneration can be sent to the relevant account.

The self-employed person can select ‘Download’ and store the ‘QR Code’ in pdf format; thereafter they can print the QR Code and post it in prominently in their workplace. Payments are completed easily, quickly and successfully, with payees notified of receipt of funds a few seconds later via a notification.

Other than a mobile phone, this new Bank of Cyprus service does not require the use of other devices.
