A special memorial and tribute event in honour of the late founder of the Leptos Group of Companies, Michael G. Leptos, was held at Paphos’ Coral Beach Hotel & Resort on February 19, 2025. Leptos, a native of Kyrenia, had business activities in the fields of real-estate development, tourism, land investments, education and healthcare in Cyprus, Greece and the Middle East.
President Nikos Christodoulides attended the event, in addition to dozens of relatives, friends and associates of the late Leptos, from Cyprus and abroad.
Tributes were delivered by President Christodoulides, on behalf of the state, as well as by George Leptos on behalf of the Leptos family, and Christodoulos E. Angastiniotis, on behalf of friends and colleagues.
Each speaker highlighted different chapters of Michael Leptos’ journey: as a self-made entrepreneur, and as a pioneer who was able to turn dreams into reality and achieve his goals, working with colleagues and associates. His real-estate projects were specifically cited as having a distinct identity and high aesthetic quality, and characterised by a deep sensitivity towards the natural environment. The late Leptos was presented as a visionary, a mentor and an outstanding teacher to his colleagues and associates—a man of integrity who earned the respect and trust of all.
The event included songs performed by the Paphos Music Club Choir dedicated to Kyrenia, Paphos and Chania—Leptos’ three beloved cities. The event also saw the premiere of the documentary “Michalakis Leptos: Creator and Visionary”.
As part of the event also, a photography exhibition, dedicated to the life and work of the late Michael Leptos, was presented at the Christian Barnard Hall, featuring rarely-seen photographs of Leptos, as well as images from Kyrenia, Paphos and Chania.
The moving and memorable evening concluded with a reception hosted by the Leptos family.
