The fourth mind REset environmental educational programme concluded in an inspiring, dynamic and innovative awards ceremony on February 19, 2025 at the Royal Hall in Nicosia.

The ceremony marked the culmination of a year of innovation, inspiration and action, during which students across Cyprus took part in an environmental and educational programme giving them the tools and knowledge to develop sustainable solutions to reduce plastic and promote a circular economy.

The Lidl Cyprus initiative, in collaboration with Non-Profit Organisation Junior Achievement Cyprus, the long-term support of the Education Ministry and under the auspices of the Agriculture Ministry, has become an institution, strengthening the eco-awareness and entrepreneurial education of young people.

Lidl Cyprus‘ contribution to the mind REset initiative offers hundreds of students the chance to experiment with business models, developing innovative proposals towards a more sustainable future.

The participation in this year’s edition of the programme was impressive, with over 100 student groups from 37 schools (19 Primary and 18 Secondary) from across Cyprus. The over 3,500 “green” entrepreneurs, aged 10-14, presented innovative environmentally-friendly products and services, winning admiration from both the public and the specialised jury during the exhibition.

Since the launch of this programme in 2021, over 12,500 Primary and Secondary students from more than 250 schools islandwide have participated.

This year’s participants worked on five training modules, based on the pillars of the REset Plastic strategy of the Schwarz group, which owns Lidl Cyprus, emphasising a reduction in plastic waste, recycling and sustainable alternatives.

The programme’s highlight was its awards ceremony, where 10 finalist teams pitched their ideas before a jury and audience. The jury evaluated the teams based on the innovation and sustainability of their idea, the quality of their pitch and business proposal, and the design of their booth and stage presence.

In the end, the Rocking Paints team from the Primary School of Agia Varvara and the NatureSkin Bags team from the Apostolos Andreas Gymnasium of Empas were dubbed the “mind REsetters 2024-2025”. The winners will get to participate in an educational business experience in Vienna, discovering new practices and broadening their horizons in the field of sustainable development.

The mind REset eco-education programme is among Lidl Cyprus’ many initiatives toward shaping an environmentally-responsible and innovative tomorrow. Reflecting the “Less Plastic – Closed Raw Material Cycles” vision, the Company continues to lead on environmental awareness, nurturing the new generation for a sustainable future. Through education, innovation and action, the company plays an important role in shaping ecological awareness, and creating practical solutions for a better tomorrow.
