XeniArtSpace Gallery in Limassol is delighted to announce an impressive new addition to its permanent collection. As of February 21, 2025, the gallery will host, for the first time in Cyprus, two unique works by Anish Kapoor—one of the most influential contemporary sculptors—offering art enthusiasts the opportunity to admire the artist’s distinctive technique up close.

Anish Kapoor’s Iconic Works at XeniArtSpace
- Untitled, 2007: In this piece, Kapoor masterfully captures his artistic vision. He transcends the flatness of the medium, drawing the viewer inward, much like he does with his sculptures. Colour plays a crucial role in his work, with red holding particular significance. For Kapoor, red is a sacred colour, often symbolising blood, flesh, and the very essence of life. In “Untitled”, pulsating red lines resemble blood vessels, inviting contemplation of the human body and its connection to existence.
- Spanish and Pagan Gold to Cobalt Blue, 2019: This work is part of Kapoor’s famous “semi-spheres” series. The circle, often regarded as a symbol of beginnings and eternal return, takes on an entirely new dimension through reflective materials and optical effects. The piece draws the viewer into a deeper meditation on reality, challenging them to reconsider how they perceive the world around them and their place within it.
Anish Kapoor: master of space and perception
Kapoor is a master of space and perception, continuously challenging how we see and experience art. His works are not merely objects placed in a room; they create immersive spaces that transport viewers beyond the visible realm. Recognised globally as a sculptural virtuoso, Kapoor creates large-scale, striking forms that manipulate reflection, light, and infinity, transforming space into emotion.
“I like to create sculptures that affect the viewer, immersing them in a special dimension woven from space and time,” Kapoor has said of his approach.
His art operates on two levels: the immediate visual narrative that captivates audiences in the moment and the form and colour that extend the experience beyond the physical realm. “My goal is to separate the perception of an object from its physical form,” he explains.
Renowned career and global recognition
Kapoor has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Turner Prize in 1991, the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2003, and a knighthood in 2013 for his contributions to the visual arts. In 2009, he became the first living British artist to be honoured with a solo exhibition throughout the entire Royal Academy of Arts.
His works are featured in leading institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Fondazione Prada in Milan, and the Tate Gallery in London. Additionally, his sculptures are part of internationally acclaimed and highly significant collections.
