OPAP Cyprus once again offers its full support to Telethon as the official sponsor of the charity event.

The alliance of OPAP Cyprus with the Institute of Neurology and Genetics was announced on May 29 at the Institute of Neurology and Genetics in Nicosia, where Telethon’s main events were presented.

Telethon 2019 includes the Pancyprian fundraiser and Sigma telemarathon on June 8 and 22 respectively, as well as the charity concert City Under The Stars, which will take place at the Presidential palace on Wednesday June 12.

“This day is not official but symbolic because it is the starting point for the great manifestation of humanity and love. It is a nice feeling that we all share at the Institute of Neurology and Genetics Cyprus and the Association of Myopaths of Cyprus, that we have you close at our every call for a joint effort, for a common purpose for patients and patients,” Executive Medical Director of the Institute of Neurology and Genetics of Cyprus Professor Leonidas Fylaktou said.

“All this would not be feasible if we did not have as companions on this difficult journey our big sponsor OPAP Cyprus, which for the eighth year supports every struggle, giving hope to our patients.”

“The Myopathy Association of Cyprus has been working for 33 years to help address the multiple problems caused by muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions and to improve the living conditions of those who suffer from them,” head of the Cyprus Association of Myopaths Pambos Papadopoulos said. He also thanked OPAP Cyprus, saying: “I would like to thank from the heart all those who contribute to this year’s Telethon event. A huge thank you to our big sponsor OPAP Cyprus and Mr Dimitris Aletraris, who for the eighth year is our travelling companion in this fight.”

“OPAP Cyprus will support you again with enthusiasm, supporting both the main and the other events that will take place under Telethon 2019, inviting all our fellow citizens to contribute in their own way to the success of the event,” Isidoros Makridis a member of the board of OPAP said.

“I want to thank the Institute of Genetics and Neurology for their excellent cooperation all these years, with a common denominator being the success of its scientific and humanitarian programmes. I also commend the organisers of Telethon and all the volunteers who contribute to the success of this great event of humanity. Particularly in difficult times, where people feel the pinch and are forced to struggle to survive, such events are an incentive for us to put our heart at the centre again,” he added.
