The Legal500 GC Powerlist initiative highlights the importance of the in-house legal role while creating a new sense of community among legal professionals. This international initiative is growing substantially year by year and events are hosted annually around the world to launch the new publication. For Greece and Cyprus, the reception for the 2019 publication for the best legal teams was hosted on May 16 in Athens and was said to have been one of the best GC Powerlist events.

The reception was attended by 160 legal counsel nominees and guests including the leading legal teams in business today from both countries who work in all industry sectors including banks and financial institutions, transport and infrastructure, energy and utilities corporations, information and technology, healthcare and pharmaceutical, consumer products, hotels, restaurants, food, beverage, entertainment, industrials and real estate, materials and mining and telecommunication services.

With the role of law firms constantly changing due to the disruption caused by technology and economic and political events which are hard to predict, the role of in-house lawyers is also continuously evolving. Lawyers are faced not only with the need to continually diversify their role but also to become more proactive and take on a more managerial function within their organisation.

Cyprus may be a small country but it strives to create a business-friendly ecosystem which in turn supports enterprises and encourages investment. Elias Neocleous & Co LLC strongly believes that the meeting of minds between leading Greek Cypriots from different industries encourages the healthy promotion of this ecosystem. As an international law firm, it always encourages the opening of communication channels between legal professionals and corporations as this advances business interests, adds value and allows sharing of common values.

The company congratulates all the teams that made the list this year for being included in the 2019 publication. “We are very glad to have contributed to this initiative and we sincerely hope that its success will continue to grow along with the community it has created,” the law office said.

Plan your next long trip to tropic destinations by taking advantage of Emirates’ special fares

With 2019 to be already at its second half, Emirates offers Cypriot travellers a unique opportunity to plan their next long trip to exotic and tropic destinations for the next 10 months. The world’s largest international airline launched its newly released attractive fares for a travel period until March 30, 2020; for bookings that will be made until June 30, 2019*.

Reaching the Western Pacific Ocean and exploring the beauties of Southeast Asia is easy, since Emirates can transfer Cypriot travelers to Manila from €830. Having some of the best restaurants and street food in Asia, Philippines’ capital offers some great sightseeing opportunities as well, with the world’s oldest Chinatown to be among them. Manila is built around its energetic nightlife, creative community and one of Asia’s coolest indie music area offering a broad range of options for every taste.

For those wishing to go deeper to the Asian mainland, Hanoi is reachable with €905. Vietnam’s capital offers a lifetime experience of visiting the Temple of Literature which is dedicated to Confucius. This place of study and contemplation, which will amaze Cypriot travelers, dates back a millennium, and a stroll around the pavilions and gardens is a reminder of how highly education is valued in Vietnam.

Emirates’ customers travelling from Larnaka International Airport can now visit glittering Kuala Lumpur by booking a ticket from €1,055. Malaysia’s capital, like all the best capital cities in Asia, is a mishmash of old and new. A cross-section of cultures such as Malay, Chinese and Indian means the cuisine -like the conversations heard on the street- is deeply diverse. Locals are known for their friendliness toward tourists, and being such a cosmopolitan city, many locals speak English and are kind with a smile and happy to help with directions or any other information you may need.

Since Cypriots always seek the summer sun, Seychelles is the ideal option for them. The chain of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean has everything that Cypriots could want: perfect weather, gorgeous beaches and a sparkling blue ocean full of sea life. Travelers from Larnaka International Airport can reach to this archipelago country with €1,145.

Emirates passengers across all classes can enjoy the airline’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system with 4,000 channels of the latest movies, music and programmes. Customers can also enjoy complimentary beverages and regionally inspired meals, as well as the warm hospitality of the airline’s multi-cultural cabin crew.

On Thursday 13 June, Phoenix Leaders celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of The Club, Cyprus first Private Members’ Club.

Set against the backdrop of the Presidential Park in Nicosia, Members and Guests joined Phoenix Leaders CEO and Founder, Valentina Kislaya, in recognising an important milestone in The Club’s history.

Over the past year The Club has welcomed Members, from across the Cypriot business community and with a common goal of working together to set new standards in Cyprus. An emerging concept in the Cypriot business community, The Club not only offers a unique setting for events, but also an environment for leaders that helps to facilitate and spark dialogue.

While speaking to guests Valentina Kislaya commented that “It seems like only yesterday we opened our doors to our first Members – those brave individuals who trusted us and our concept of creating a home for the Cypriot business community, and an environment which embraces the 21st century and provides a flexible way of working. It’s been a privilege to have you with us over the past year; be that by choosing to host your companies’ events here or by attending our own schedule of events and training courses.”

To mark the occasion, The Club’s gardens were transformed into a botanical haven, with music provided by Marios Chrysanthou and canapés prepared by Club Chef, Diogenis Papadopoulos. Guests also had the rare opportunity to move behind the bar and create their own signature cocktails with the help of Nicosia’s renowned bar, Lost + Found.

The Club will be welcoming writer and academic, and the author of the best-seller ‘Primate Change: How the World We Made Is Changing Us’ to speak to Members in September.
